25.11.2017, DPR.

The change of the head of the Lugansk People’s Republic will not have a negative impact on efforts taken for the Minsk agreements execution to settle the conflict in Donbass, DPR People’s Council spokesman Denis Pushilin said in Minsk on November 24, Donetsk News Agency reported.
“The Minsk process will be continued as before”, DPR spokesman ensured. “There are no negative preconditions after Igor Plotnitsky’s resignation from the post of the Head of the Republic, as he has now been appointed as the Lugansk People’s Republic’s authorized representative for fulfilling the Minsk agreements”, the official explained.

Earlier, Oleg Tyagnibok, the leader of Ukrainian ultra-nationalist Svoboda party, said that the Minsk agreements would become not legitimate in case of Plotnitsky’s resignation. In his opinion, as the ex-Head of the Republic was among the signers of the Minsk agreements, “the Minsk is already in fact illegitimate”.

On November 24, it was revealed that the head of the LPR Igor Plotnitsky has resigned due to his health condition. The security minister Leonid Pasechnik was appointed as the republic’s interim head.

The resignation was preceded by a conflict between Igor Plotnitsky and the LPR minister of internal affairs Igor Kornet. The latter official claimed that his resignation was illegal and accused Plotnitsky’s closest circle in betraying the Republic’s interests. Experts say that the resignation of the head of the LPR could be connected with these events.
