Ukrainian army fired 60 shells at Donetsk People’s Republic during the past day

In the past 24 hours, Ukrainian militants fired 60 shells at the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), the DPR Deputy Operations Commander Eduard Basurin said on October 2, RIA Novosti news agency reports.

“On the Donetsk direction, 12 120 mm shells and 33 82 mm shells were launched, hitting nine localities. The Ukrainian army fired small arms and grenade launches on the Gorlovka direction. Two buildings were damaged as a result”, Basurin informed.

Basurin also added that Ukrainian militants launched 14 shells on Mariupol direction, the enemy opened fire by infantry fighting vehicles, grenade launchers, and small arms.

The latest agreement on the ceasefire (the so-called “school truce”) was reached at the end of August 2017. On August 25, the “school truce” was announced, and an indefinite ceasefire was introduced.

On August 23, the Trilateral Contact Group on the peaceful settlement of the conflict in Donbass signed a document on the “school truce” in Minsk. According to the document, the Armed Forces of Ukraine on one side, and the forces of the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Lugansk People’s Republic on the other side, are obliged to stop fire on the demarcation line.
