Iranian Foreign Ministry: International community must rise against terrorism

02.10.2017, Iran.

The Spokesperson of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Bahram Ghasemi, called the international community to rise against terrorism, ParsToday reported on October 2.

The Iranian diplomat in his comment on the recent terrorist attacks in France and Canada said that violence, atrocities, and terror against innocent people spread across the globe while being encouraged by certain countries.

The official urged the international community to rise up and eradicate the ideology, financial sources, and recruiting sites of terrorism.

A few days before, terrorist attacks happened in Canada and France. In the Canadian city of Edmonton, a man rammed a car into a policeman; then he stepped out of the car and stabbed the policeman several times killing him. The perpetrator was detained. In the attacker’s car, an ISIL (organization banned in Russia) flag was found.

At the Marseille railway station in France, a man with a knife attacked several passers-by killing two people. The attacker was shot to death by an army patrol that arrived at the scene. The authorities connect the attack with the activity of ISIL (organization banned in Russia).

Editorial comment

Terrorist elements became rampant in Europe after the Moammar el-Gadhafi’s regime in Libya was overthrown, with the Western countries’ most active involvement. Also, a long-lasting political and military crisis in Syria began, which escalated into a civil war between the governmental army and the so-called armed opposition. These world reordering conflicts, and some other ones, produce a great inflow of migrants to Europe, in which ISIL (organization banned in Russia) saboteurs can hardly be identified.
