Venezuela sends over 10 tons of humanitarian aid to Mexico

Venezuela sent a plane to Mexico with humanitarian aid for the people affected by the earthquake, Néstor Reverol, the head of the Venezuelan Ministry of Internal Affairs informed on his Twitter account on September 24th.

“On behalf of our president, Nicolás Maduro, and in solidarity with the people of Mexico we send 10.4 tons of humanitarian aid,” the official wrote.

Venezuela’s actions followed the request of Luis Videgaray Caso, the Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, who on September 22nd said that his country desperately needs the assistance of other countries, including Russia and Venezuela. The Russian Federation immediately responded to the request of the affected country and prepared the cargo, which is scheduled to arrive in the city of Mexico on September 26th.

On September 19th, a 7.1 magnitude earthquake hit Mexico. According to state authorities, at the moment this natural disaster killed 318 people.
