23.09.2017, China.

China is willing to get actively involved in post-war reconstruction of Syria, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China Lu Kang said on September 22, TASS reports.

“China stands ready to play a positive role in the reconstruction of Syria with the rest of the international community in the future”, the representative of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

He said that the situation in Syria has significantly improved: the Islamists resistance is being successfully suppressed and four de-escalation zones have been established. He hopes that further efforts of the UN and the international community will promote new progress in the political settlement and the reduction of the level of violence in the country.

The Memorandum on establishing de-escalation zones in Syria entered into force in May 2017. By now, there are four de-escalation zones.

Thanks to a successful joint effort of the Syrian army and the Russian Aerospace Forces the city of Deir ez-Zor was liberated. The Syrian army continues an offensive in the province of Deir ez-Zor that was the last large stronghold of ISIL (organization banned in Russia) fighters in Syria.
