Iran: Denial of immunity for diplomatic facilities is a dangerous path

13.09.2017, Iran.

The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran Bahram Ghasemi called the actions of the US government to shut down and search Russia’s diplomatic missions a dangerous precedent, Pars Today news agency informs.

Bahram Ghasemi explained that such actions of the US administration show that from now on, no country on US soil would be able to enjoy diplomatic immunity, including inviolability of diplomatic facilities that provides for the immunity from search, attachment, requisition, or execution.

On September 2, 2017, the US shut down three Russian diplomatic missions including its Consulate General in San Francisco and consular departments in New York City and Washington DC; they also conducted searches of the premises.
