Supply route of Deir-ez-Zorah demined

Demining of supply route of city Deir ez-Zor was completed on September 7 by the engineering troops of Syrian Arab Republic (SAR), RIA Novosti news agency reported citing a source in Defence Staff of the city.

“Road safety is secured. Sappers cleared territory at the entrance of the city,” the source informed.

The day before roadside bombs were discovered on the road leading to the city, due to which road traffic was suspended. During demining, sappers destroyed dozens of mines and roadside bombs.

Deir ez-Zor since 2014 was surrounded by terrorists but remained under control of the government army. The three-year siege of the city was broken on September 5. The representative of General Staff of the Russian Federation called this event the most important victory in Syria for the last three years.

After the siege was broken, the first shipment of humanitarian aid has already been delivered to the city.
