04.09.2017, Russia.

Over the past two days, the aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces have destroyed nine armored vehicles of ISIL (organization banned in Russia), TASS news agency informed on September 2 citing the Russian Defense Ministry.

“The Syrian Arab Army supported by the Russian Aerospace Forces continues successful offensive towards Deir ez-Zor to liberate the city. Over the past two days, the Russian aircraft have destroyed nine armored vehicles, including two tanks, 6 artillery positions, one improvised multiple launch rocket system (MLRS), three ammunition depots, a command center and more than 20 trucks carrying fuel, weapons and ammunition,” the Russian Defense Ministry said.

Moreover, the Russian Defense Ministry noted that due to the effective actions of the Russian Aerospace Forces, the Syrian government troops continue tightening the circle around ISIL (organization banned in Russia) near Akerbat settlement in Hama province.

“Russian aircraft Su-34 and Su-35 identify new targets and destroy ISIL (organization banned in Russia) terrorists from the air. The time from identification to destruction of a target is a few minutes. A large ISIL (organization banned in Russia) convoy of twelve trucks carrying ammunition and weapons, as well as off-road vehicles with mounted high-caliber heavy machine guns, anti-aircraft guns and mortars was destroyed on the road section Deir ez-Zor – Rasafa,” the Russian Defense Ministry added.

Deir ez-Zor is the last stronghold of ISIL (organization banned in Russia) in Syria.
On August 25, during the round table at the International Military Technical Forum ARMY 2017, Colonel general Sergey Surovkin said that “Currently, the Syrian government forces supported by the Russian Aerospace Forces carried out an offensive on Deir ez-Zor from three directions: along Euphrates river, from the city of Sukhnah, and from Abu-Kamal District … The major part of the most capable and best armed group of ISIL (organization banned in Russia) coming from Raqqa was located in this region. The liberation of Deir ez-Zor would result in the defeat of the main terrorist forces and elimination of the last ISIL’s (organization banned in Russia) stronghold from Syrian soil.”
