More than 120 localities joined ceasefire during one day in Syria

More than 120 localities in Idlib and Hama provinces have joined the ceasefire over the 24 hour period, informs Russian Ministry of Defence on 5 June, reports RT news agency.

“Within last 24 hours, 125 ceasefire agreements have been signed with representatives of inhabited areas in the Syrian Arab Republic. A total number of inhabited areas, the leaders of which had signed reconciliation agreements is 1,996 ”, the Ministry’s report states.

The dialog with armed Syrian opposition groups, which operate in provinces of Damask, Hama, Aleppo, Idlib, Homs, and El-Quneitra, regarding joining the ceasefire continues, stresses the Ministry.

Ministry of Defence of Syrian Arab Republic declared on 3 June the ceasefire in the southern part of the country which is to last up to July 6. According to the Defense Ministry, the following step was made in order to support the peace process in the country and to achieve national reconciliation.

Currently, the sides of the Syrian military conflict, including armed opposition, sat down at the negotiating table in Astana to find exit from the Syrian crisis.
