The DPR intelligence has obtained documentary evidence of provocations being prepared by the Ukrainian army, Deputy Operations Commander of Donetsk People’s Republic Eduard Basurin said on July 5, the Donetsk News Agency reports.

“Our intelligence has obtained evidence that Ukrainian army commanders are preparing serious provocations on the eve of the G-20 summit,” Basurin said to journalists.

He also provided details of how the documents were obtained: “On July 3, intelligence officers of the DPR army lured a serviceman of the 128th Independent Mountain Infantry Brigade into the gray zone near the Peski village. The Ukrainian serviceman had secret documents with him, which he received earlier that day from the headquarters of one of nearby brigades, with instructions to use weapons banned by the Minsk Agreements against the DPR territory on July 6, 2017.”

According to intelligence information, the provocation which is in the works will involve the 72nd Independent Mechanized Brigade, the 55th Independent Artillery Brigade, and the 128th Independent Mountain Infantry Brigade.

The Ukrainian army officer did not resist detention. “After the documents were received, the officer was freed,” Basurin stressed.

The DPR intelligence together with the commanders of the Republic has repeatedly prevented prepared provocations by publishing the plans of the Ukrainian army command.

During the G-20 international forum, a US-Russia summit will be held, which is a sensitive issue for the Ukrainian leadership.
