Kurginyan: What Navalny’s opposition members did was a display of insanity

14.06.2017, Russia.

By going to Tverskaya street instead of Sakharov avenue, Navalny’s opposition members created chaos in Moscow, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, Sergey Kurginyan, said on June 13 during the First Studio TV show on the Russian Channel One.

“Navalny’s opposition members were offered not just a good place but a symbolic place, Sakharov Avenue, where they held all the previous rallies… Is this a fact? It is. There were no bans. They accepted the offer, but then they started making ridiculous announcements, and they rushed to where other events were being held… This is a disgusting display of insanity, that they directed the crowd to where other events were being held, to deliberately create a stampede, thereby violating everything; it’s just utter insanity…” Sergey Kurginyan said.

Kurginyan noted that the police reaction to all the protesters’ violations was perfectly civilized; nevertheless, Western media still branded Russia as a Mordor. “Whatever you do, we need you to be a Mordor, and you will be. And that is exactly what external governance is,” the leader of Essence of Time said.

On June 12, anti-government rallies led by opposition activist Aleksey Navalny were held across Russia. In Moscow, Sakharov Avenue was agreed upon as the site of the rally; but late in the night on June 11, Aleksey Navalny called on everyone to go to Tverskaya street through his You-Tube channel. As a result, approximately at 3 PM on June 12, dangerous overcrowding began on Tverskaya street where the Times and Epochs festival was being held. The police encircled part of Tverskaya street and pushed the protesters towards the Pushkinskaya subway station.
