Ukrainian radical groups begin military exercises in Kiev region

On June 11, Ukraine’s territorial defense forces launched a two-day series of drills in the village of Novye Petrovtsy in the Kiev region, a Press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reports.

The drills under the provisional title “Movement 100. Torrent” takes place on the territory of the Battle for Kiev 1943 National Museum-Preserve.

The drills are organized within the framework of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense and the “Movement Promoting the Territorial Defense of Ukraine” Social Union. The aim of the drills is to prepare “patriotically-minded” citizens of Ukraine to fulfill the tasks assigned for territorial defense units.

The Movement Promoting the Territorial Defense of Ukraine was established in October 2015 to train Ukrainian citizens in weapons and self-defense skills. This movement includes such organizations as the “Right Sector” (organization banned in the Russia), the Ukrainian Legion  social organization, the Plast – National Scout Organization of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Female Guard social organization, the Center of special tactical training “White Wolf” social organization, the Youth Nationalist Congress and others.
