Nestor Reverol, Minister of the Popular Power for Interior Relations and Justice of Venezuela, announced that new terrorist cells have been uncovered. They receive funding from ultra-right parties, and they are engaged in inciting violence within Venezuela, reported Prensa Latina, the official news agency of the Republic of Cuba, May 24.
General Reverol, in his declaration presented last Wednesday on the Venezolana de Televisión channel, announced that in the last 48 hours “new armed terrorist cells which incite violence, undermine the right to life, to peace, to free movement [of Venezuelan citizens – Rossa Primavera News Agency], to country’s development, were neutralized.”
Members of the People’s Will (Spanish: Voluntad Popular) far-right party who were responsible for committing acts of vandalism in the state of Miranda and in Caracas were arrested, informed the Ministry of Interior and Justice of Venezuela.
Members of New Time (Spanish: Un Nuevo Tiempo) and First Justice (Spanish: Primero Justicia), the ultra-right parties who organized gangs for violent actions in the state of Zulia, are detained.
“A massive amount of non-traditional explosives and Molotov cocktails, made for terrorist acts, were seized in all these instances,” said Reverol.
He emphasized that “without a doubt, the ultra-right [forces] in Venezuela are zealous in their intention to realize a coup d’état, regardless of the Constitution. They act in alliance with the armed paramilitary groups associated with local criminal gangs. The scale of their actions goes as far as the seizure of military facilities.”
Violent acts, incited by ultra-right opposition groups, have already resulted in 60 killed, more than a thousand wounded, millions of dollars in economic losses, in both – public and private sectors.
