DPR: Ukrainian army is shelling with heavy artillery, there are victims among civilians

The Ukrainian army shelled the outskirts of Yasinovataya with heavy artillery, there are victims among the civilian population, a source in the Donetsk People’s Republic People’s Militia (DPR PM) informed a Rossa Primavera News Agency reporter on May 17.

During May 17, the Ukrainian side had been heavily shelling the outskirts of Yasinovataya. Shell hits were reported in the villages of Spartak, Yakovlevka, and Krutaya Balka. A three-storey building in Spartak burnt down as a result of the direct hit of the mortar shell. In the evening, one civilian, a woman, was killed; and one civilian, a man, was injured by the shelling of Krutaya Balka. The shelling continued until the night of May 17, the Ukrainian military used heavy artillery, tanks, and mortars.

During May 17, the Ukrainian army shelled the Donetsk water filtration plant. The plant’s employees stayed in the shelter during the shelling, no one was injured. The Donetsk water filtration plant continues to operate.

In the night of May 17, the Ukrainian side shelled the village of Telmanovo with 152mm artillery. Power lines, the pumping station, and TV tower were damaged. The infrastructure damaged by the shelling is being restored.

The Ukrainian army was provoking active combat on the Gorlovka and Mariupol directions. The Ukrainian military opened fire on the DPR PM positions and residential areas with heavy artillery.

According to DPR PM Command, during the past day, one serviceman of the Republic was killed, and another two were wounded.

According to recent data, on May 16, the Ukrainian army violated the ceasefire 54 times. The enemy shelled 17 villages and towns of the DPR. One house was damaged in Golmovksy in the outskirts of Gorlovka, another house burnt down in the village of Staromikhaylovka in the Kirovsky district of Donetsk. A 75-years old man was injured as a result of the shelling of Yakovlevka in the Yasinovataya district.
