The militants’ attacks in Syria, which began after the US missile strike, have been repelled, the Colonel-General of General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (GS RAF) Sergey Rudskoy stated on April 11th, informs Interfax.

«All of the militants’ attacks have been repelled», the Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of GS RAF Colonel-General Sergey Rudskoy said while commenting on combat actions in Syria. Government forces have fended off the Islamist militants, who attacked after the US missile strike on Shairat Air Base on April 7th.

Up to 150 Islamists, three tanks, 4 APCs and 9 pickup trucks equipped with high-caliber machine guns were destroyed in combat. The process of clearing mines on newly liberated territory is nearing completion. Work to repair residential buildings is ongoing. About 7 thousand civilians have returned to Eastern Aleppo.

During the night of 7 April, the US fleet attacked Shairat military airfield with cruise missiles. That airbase is very important for Syrian Air Force due to its vicinity to the frontline. Militants went offensive, taking advantage of this American attack. The Russian Federation called these actions by the US Navy an act of aggression against Syria, which is a Russian ally.
