Armed Forces of Ukraine attempted breakthrough in the area of Kalinovka village near Debaltsevo. Today at about 13:00 local time, after a massive artillery preparation, Ukrainian military attacked LPR People’s Militia positions from the direction of Luganskoye township. Thanks to coordinated actions of militiamen and commanders of DPR and LPR armed forces, the enemy was stopped and repelled. Two LPR People’s Militia servicemen were wounded, two went missing. 10 militants on the Ukrainian side were killed, over 20 were injured. Two IFV of the enemy were also destroyed in the course of the combat. As of 19:00 CET the fighting continued.
Gorlovka outskirts are still being shelled. Local residents inform on the shelling of Zaytsevo village in the north of the city and Shyrokaya Balka in the south-west. The enemy fires mortars, large-caliber machine guns, automatic grenade launchers, IFV guns.
Spartak village on Donetsk direction came under fire. Trench warfare continues in the area of Avdeevka industrial zone and Yasinovataya checkpoint.
Armed Forces of Ukraine fired on Bezymennoye, Kominternovo, Leninskoye and Sakhanka villages in the south of DPR by 122mm artillery, 120mm and 82mm mortars, as well as tank.
DPR recon discovered up to a platoon of 122mm “Gvozdika” self-propelled artillery guns on Gorlovka direction, in the area of Dzerzhinsk town. In the south of the Republic, positions of 82mm mortars were uncovered in Shyrokino village.
According to updated information, on December 17 Armed Forces of Ukraine fired 960 times on the territory of the Republic, including 114 times by 152mm and 122mm artillery, 220 times by 120mm and 82mm mortars, 24 times by tanks, 443 times by various types of grenade launchers. Zaytsevo, Shyrokaya Balka, Panteleimonovka, Krutaya Balka, Yasinovataya, Mineralnoye, Spartak, Donetsk, Aleksandrovka, Dokuchaevsk, Kominternovo, Naberezhnoye, Leninskoye, Sakhanka came under fire. According to People’s Militia commanders, one serviceman of the Republic was injured by Ukrainian shelling.
