Windows for "Harmony" kindergarten (photo report)

15.12.2016, Donetsk.

Back in Spring we announced the start of fundraising for “Harmony” kindergarten, which is located in Putilovka, in the “red zone” of Kievsky district of Donetsk. In 2014-2015 this kindergarten was significantly damaged by Ukrainian shelling, but it is relatively calm here now and people start returning to their homes. The number of children in the district is increasing, while the kindergarten has no windows.

People from different parts of the world responded to our call to action. Thanks to caring people from the USA, Sweden, Ireland, Israel and Great Britain, $1300 were raised in the course of these months to pay for the windows.

The largest part of the funds was sent by the congregants of Florida Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate). These funds were spent to pay for installation of window frames and glass units, which allowed to glass 20 windows in three rooms.

Thanks to those who responded the call, children will soon be able to return to this kindergarten. In order for them to know who gave them a helping hand, we put a sticker with the flag of the country and the name of the person who demonstrated compassion and thought on every new window.

In order for the children to start being able to attended kindergarten again, we need to restore another 75 windows. Everything is happening not as fast as we wanted to, but it already started rolling. The staff of this kindergarten who every day went to work, preserved the property and repaired the holes left by “Grad” missiles in walls and ceilings, received big hopes that “Harmony” will soon be restored.
