Third of DPR health facilities damaged during the war are repaired despite continuing shellings

41 out of 114 Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) medical facilities damaged during the ongoing Civil War were restored despite the continuing shellings by the Ukrainian Army, the Chief Specialist in the Department for the Technical Supervision Support of DPR Ministry of Health Oleg Popov informed Donetsk News Agency on November 9th. The engineers and workers of the general contractor “Donbasstroy” trust performed all of the repair works.

Most of the health facilities (31) are located in Donetsk and Gorlovka cities. According to Popov, the level of damage to various health facilities is different, some of them have to be repaired several times because of the repetitive destruction. Many of the healthcare objects are located in the front-line zone and, thus, are regularly shelled by the Ukrainian army.

“For example, hospitals No. 14 and 21 in Trudovskiye (Petrovsky district – Donetsk News Agency) and Oktyabrskiy villages near the former Donetsk Airport have been shelled for many dozen times, and they are still being shelled. We just repair something or install new windows in these hospitals, and then, here you go, yet another shelling,” the representative of the Ministry of Health complained.

According to the DPR Ministry of Health, the repair of all the health facilities included in the second stage of the state restoration program is going to be finished by the end of this year. In summer, 2016 it was announced that 69 health facilities in the Republic were included in the second stage list.
