On October 12 we once again visited the village of Nikishino near Debaltsevo, where the volunteers of “Patriotic Forces of Donbass” and local residents rebuild the houses destroyed by Ukrainian artillery. The construction work is going at accelerated speed — it is necessary to do as much as possible before winter comes.
Where two completely destroyed houses stood on Lenina street, volunteers started building two new onces. When we were here last time in the beginning of the summer and brought construction tools, the foundations were being laid here. Today we can already see walls and a ceiling. The workers proceed to installing new windows.
Our old friend Chika is making sure the construction goes as it should.
Apart from these two houses, volunteers help other residents of the village. At one place they fix the roof, somewhere they rebuild a wall.
Despite the hard disastrous situation of the village, people continue to return to their homes. The debris are being cleared out and repaired as much as possible. Whole piles grow out of shrapnel, pieces of shells, rusty helmets and traces of activity of the Ukrainian army.
