Donetsk puppeteers to perform to children with cancer during theater forum in Russia

On October 13 the troupe of Donetsk Republic Academic Puppet Theater went to the Chuvash Republic of Russian Federation to take part in the IV International Education Theater Festival-Forum for “special children” “Everyone Doesn’t Need to be the Same”. The puppeteers will perform on various sites, including a cancer center, the Head of the Literature Section of the Theater Svetlana Kuralekh said to a Donetsk News Agency reporter.

The program of the Festival in Cheboksary is dedicated to the small children with disabilities. The Festival is to take place not only in the large and small halls of the Chuvash Puppet Theater but also in the National Library, rehabilitation center, health resort for children, cancer center, and even in a flat of an ill child,” she mentioned.

Donetsk puppeteers will stage a play “Color milk” of the famous poet and playwright from Crimea Vladimir Orlov.

According to Kuralekh, besides the performance, the Donetsk participants are going to share the experience with colleagues from other theaters concerning the work with disabled children, development of methods and their practical application to work with such children’s audience.

The IV International Education Theater Festival-Forum “Everyone Doesn’t Need to be the Same” will be held in Cheboksary from 16 to 18 October. The Festival includes performance of plays, education seminars and sharing the  experience of work with special children, in particularly, children with Down’s syndrome and autism. Puppet theaters of Russia and other countries are expected to take part in the events.
