Russia accommodated 1.1+ million refugees from Ukraine

Russia hosted and accommodated approximately 1.1 million of Ukrainian citizens forced to flee from their land, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russian Federation Gennady Gatilov reminded the journalists during the UN Assembly Summit for Refugees and Migrants on September 19th, TASS news agency reports.

Our country also faces this problem. In fact, hundreds of thousands of people were forced to flee from Ukraine due to the internal political conflict in the country. Russia hosted and accommodated around 1.1 million of Ukrainians,” the Deputy Minister said.

According to the UN, 9,500 people were killed, over 22,000 were injured in the civil war in Ukraine. 3.1 million people are in need of humanitarian aid.
