Radicals destroy Orthodox temple under construction near Kiev

A temple of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) was destroyed in Borovaya township. Radicals among the local citizens intimidated the activists of the Orthodox Community, TASS news agency reported on September 12th.

One of the attackers stated that “Father Taras blessed” their actions meaning Taras Shevchenko*, Ukrainian media specified. The radicals intimidated the elder of the settlement as well as the most active members of the community.

People from nearby villages arrived to participate in vandalism. Radicals promise to continue oppose the construction of an orthodox temple in their village by all means.

This act of vandalism took place against the background of a large-scale desecration of the Soviet time monuments.
