‘Centre of Development of Donbass’ supplied almost 1400 DPR elderly with home medical equipment, hygiene kits

The humanitarian mission ‘Centre of Donbass Development’ provided the population of Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) with home medical equipment, hygiene kits and underwear, nearly 1400 residents of Donetsk and Makeevka received aid under the program ‘My dear elderly’ (named after the song performed by Igor Sarukhanov in late 80s-90s – Editor), the press service of the mission informed Donetsk News Agency.

“To support the elderly people of Donbass, Centre of Development of Donbass implemented the project ‘My dear elderly.’ We selected 1395 people older than 65 years through questionnaires. They received crutches, walkers, underwear, and hygiene kits,” the organization explained.

Volunteers delivered humanitarian aid to seniors. Each set includes underwear, crutches, walkers, soap, shampoo, sponges for bathing and washing dishes, and shaving sets. A total of 4.5 tons of various non-food items were handed over.

“Many of those, for whom we brought aid, were crying. Of course, because of the joy and surprise, since these items are, in fact, essentials for each older person, who received the aid. Some of them could not believe for a long time that we give them the home medical equipment for free,” the press service of the organization explained citing the volunteer Tatyana Zhuravleva.

The charity project ‘My dear elderly’ was launched in mid-June. The residents of the front-line Petrovsky district of the capital were the first to receive the humanitarian aid.

Centre of Development of Donbass was founded in September 2015 and was accredited to Donetsk People’s Republic as a humanitarian mission. Volunteers of the organization are delivering humanitarian aid to hospitals and schools, providing training courses for the residents, participating in the development of the projects aimed at the restoration of Donbass infrastructure damaged by the shellings.
