Kiev junta’s military continues to redeploy its forces to the border with Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR). Ukrainian soldiers also get killed by their own mines, DPR Deputy Defense Minister Eduard Basurin stated during his briefing in the press center of Donetsk News Agency on May 3rd.
On the south direction, DPR intelligence reported the appearance of several new multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) “Grad” at the positions of the Ukrainian army. Basurin said, “Movement of two truck-mounted multiple rocket launchers BM-21 “Grad” and three tilt off-road “Ural” trucks with ammunition was spotted near Starognatovka township of Telmanovskiy district. Unloading of 18 boxes of mines was also reported in this area.“
It is reported that “on April 29th, ten soldiers of the 1st, 4th companies, and engineer platoon, being in the state of extreme intoxication, grossly violated the safety precautions of ammunition handling. As a result, soldiers of the 4th company of the 16th independent motorized battalion triggered a detonation of a live shell. Five soldiers of the Ukrainian army were severely injured in the explosion”. It is also known that the Ukrainian army command has the intention “to present this situation as a shelling of Ukrainian positions by DPR artillery and to report the losses due to the accident as combat casualties.” The surnames of the victims are Garnyukov and Kutsenko from the 1st company, Verbitsky and Shumilin from the 4th company, Melnik from the engineer platoon. Over the past day, the Ukrainian military fired 49 shells at the DPR territory using mortars of various calibers; tank guns, grenade launchers, and small arms were also used. Zaytsevo village, mining village “Gagarin” near Gorlovka town, Stromikhaylovka, Abakumovo townships, as well as “Yasinovatsky” checkpoint and the area of the former Donetsk airport were shelled.
In its reports to Ukrainian media, the Ukrainian army commanders regularly present the shelling of residential area by Ukrainian army soldiers as the shelling conducted by DPR Armed Forces. It has become established practice for the Kiev junta to announce the injuries sustained by the Ukrainian army soldiers in internal disputes and accidents as combat casualties.
