Donetsk commemoration in memory of May 2, 2014 Odessa tragedy victims (photos)

03.05.2016, Donetsk.

Oh Odessa, the pearl by the sea,

Oh Odessa, you knew much grief

These words of a well-known and, actually, cheerful lively song, have now a different tone. Our pearl Odessa received a black burnt mourning setting on May 2, 2014.

Yesterday, on the second anniversary of the Odessa tragedy, Donetsk resident commemorated the memory of those who were killed in the Trade Unions House. Thousands of people came to Lenin square with flowers, candles and lamps. The people came, because the ashes of the victims of May 2 knock at their hearts.

Odessa residents, DPR army soldiers, many of whom were on the Kulikovo field on that horrible day and survived, have gathered under Odessa flags.

The film footage of those events was shown on a big screen. People were watching, listening, their faces were getting stricter. Many couldn’t hold back their tears. The moment of silence fell on the square with mourning silence.

People were bringing flowers to the stand with photographs. A lot of flowers.

We will never forget this day, which separated life to “before” and “after” with a black strip. Eternal memory to the victims of fascism! We will not forgive!

No one is forgotten, nothing is forgotten!
