Donetsk celebrates Labor Day and Easter! May Day demonstration marched through the main street of the city. Workers of mines and enterprises of the Republic, members of trade unions and public organizations, Great Patriotic War veterans and ordinary Donetsk residents, who went to the streets to celebrate the holiday with their families, carried banners and flags. Many people were walking with Easter baskets, because they were joining the march right after visiting churches. People chanted “Peace! Labor! May!”, “Glory to the working people!”, greeted one another by saying “Christ is risen!”. People carried a large number of red-colored and Soviet symbols.
The column marched to Lenin square, where a holiday rally and concert took place. The speakers claimed that Soviet values are undeniable and must be in the basis of building Donetsk People’s Republic. They also said that Orthodox Christianity is fundamentally important to Russians.
We congratulate everyone with the Day of Workers’ Solidarity and with the great holiday of Easter!
