Turkish President, Prime Minister, Defense Ministry support military aggression of Azerbaijan in Nagorny Karabakh

President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the country’s Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu expressed support of Azerbaijan’s actions in Nagorny Karabakh. Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in turn, condemned the actions of Armenia. The Defense Ministers of Azerbaijan and Turkey discussed the situation, RIA Novosti reports.

Turkish President and the Prime Minister of the country expressed their sympathies to President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in regard to the deaths of Azerbaijan Armed Forces servicemen deaths’ on Saturday.

Aliyev had a phone talk with Erdogan on Saturday in which he called the actions of Armenia “a provocation on the contact line”.
 
During the phone talk between the Defense Ministers of the two countries, Turkish Defense Minister Ismet Yılmaz and Chief of Staff Hulusi Akar expressed their support of the aggression against Nagorny Karabakh to Azerbaijan Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey condemned the supposed shelling of Azerbaijan’s territory by Armenia.

OSCE, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Russian President Vladimir Putin, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko, Iran, as well as U.S. State Secretary John Kerry, French President Francois Hollande, Austria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sebastian Kurz, and a number of other countries and organizations urged the sides to stop the conflict, abide by the ceasefire and engage in peace talks.
