Donetsk-Gorlovka road is under Ukrainian sniper fire

OSCE monitors refused to inspect “Yasinovatskiy” checkpoint after the Ukrainian side resumed sniper fire, Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) Deputy Defense Minister Eduard Basurin stated yesterday, on March 9th, Donetsk News Agency reports.

The representatives of OSCE mission, DPR Defence Ministry, and Joint Centre for Ceasefire Control and Coordination (JCCC) stationed at the approaches to “Yasinovatskiy” checkpoint located on Donetsk-Gorlovka road. Heavy sniper fire from the Ukrainian side prevented the monitoring of the checkpoint.

On March 8th, in the afternoon, the Ukrainian side shelled and machine-gunned a group of Russian journalists in this area, and OSCE mission came under Ukrainian fire on March 6th.

Donetsk-Gorlovka roadway became a target of systematic shelling after the Ukrainian units occupied the area in the buffer zone adjacent to the road. Civilian vehicles are exposed to shelling by the Ukrainian side, due to this reason, the traffic of vehicles was blocked by DPR Ministry of Internal Affairs forces on March 7th.
