03.03.2016, Syria.

Kurds continue the anti-terrorist operation in the Syrian town of Tell Abyad, which was attacked by militants of ISIL (Organization banned in Russia), the Head of the Kurdistan Autonomous Administration Representative in Moscow Rodi Osman told to RIA Novosti.

Generally the attack was repelled, but the anti-terrorist operation continues, Islamist stashes and ambushes are being eliminated“, he said.

I will note another important point – the attack on the Tell Abyad would not be possible without the support of Turkey. The attack was launched at the same time from two sides: from Raqqa city (“The capital” of ISIL [Organization banned in Russia – Editor] – RIA Novosti Editor), which is located quite far away, and from the Turkish border where Tell Abyad is located. From the Turkish side there was an attack from three places at the same time, and all of them are under control of Turkish army“, – he added.

According to Rodi Osman, “attack of militants from the side of Turkey is fully paralyzed, but the militants are still trying to attack from the side of Raqqa.

According to the representative of the Syrian Kurdistan, 291 militants of ISIL (Organization banned in Russia) were eliminated in five days of fighting. In addition, six members of the terrorist group were captured. The Kurdish militias themselves have lost 43 fighters in the combat at Tell Abyad.

The attack on the Syrian Kurdish town of Tell Abyad, located on the Turkish border, began on February 27 – the first day of the the ceasefire declared by the UN Security Council.
