Ukrainian punitive forces fired 120 shells at the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) yesterday, resulting in a total of 36 violations of the ceasefire. One soldier of DPR Armed Forces was wounded due to the mortar shelling by the Ukrainian army, DPR Ministry of Defense informed Donetsk News Agency.
According to DPR Defense Ministry, the enemy used 120mm mortars 10 times, 82mm caliber mortars 35 times, the weapons of infantry fighting vehicle 31 times. Various types of grenade launchers, anti-aircraft guns, and small arms were also used.
“The Ukrainian criminals Zhakun and Klotchkov gave illegal orders to shell from the positions of the 14th and 93th independent motorized infantry brigade,” a spokesman of DPR Defense Ministry added.
According to the Ministry information, the DPR territory was shelled from the position in Peski, Nevelskoe, Zhovanka, Opytnoe townships and Krasnogorovka, Avdeevka towns. The area of Zaytsevo township under the control of DPR near Gorlovka, Yasinovataya town, the suburbs and the outskirts of Donetsk including Staromikhaylovka and Zhabichevo townships, Spartak and Veseloe villages, the former Donetsk airport area and area of “Volvo-Center” were under fire.
On the night of February 28th, 2016, Ukrainian army shelled the territory of former Donetsk airport using 82mm mortars.
