Militants of the terrorist group Jabhat al-Nusra (Organization banned in Russia) shelled the residential quarters of the Aleppo city where Kurds live by missiles and attacked a number of the checkpoints of the Syrian army and the people’s militia, a source in the militia told to RIA Novosti agency on Monday.
“Today Jabhat al-Nusra [Organization banned in Russia – Editor] shelled the quarters of El Masharika, Ashrafîya, ez-Zahra and Sheikh Maksud by missile weapons. Kurds live there. Streets of the Bani Zeid were attacked by snipers for several hours. From the side of Ez-Zahra and Sheikh Maksud militants attacked a Syrian army checkpoint and our position (militia’s – RIA Editor), but the number of terrorists was small, the fight was short and the militants retreated“, he told the agency.
According to the source, nobody was killed in the missile attack. Several people received shell fragment wounds, they hospitalized in time. Skirmishes between militias and terrorists started again in the Sheikh Maksud quarter. According to the source, the militants are shooting chaotically, but are not trying to attack.
The commander of the militia group said that since the beginning of the announced ceasefire in Aleppo the terrorists, who initially sided Jabhat al-Nusra (Organization banned in Russia) and refused abide to the ceasefire, have increased their activity.
“The ‘Al-Sultan Murad’ brigade and dozens of similar ones are fighting for a long time and they obey only ‘Jabhat al-Nusra’ [Organization banned in Russia – Editor], their actions are not a violation of the ceasefire, they initially were not going to agree for peace as nobody is going to come to terms with their patrons,” the representative of the militia noted.
