Syrian opposition: Russian air strikes help fight radical Islamists

Airstrikes of Air and Space Forces of Russia against the terrorist group “Islamic State” (Organization banned in Russia) help the Syrian opposition in its struggle against extremists, the representative of the alliance of armed groups “Syrian Democratic Forces” Talal Salah told to RIA Novosti.

Our forces are benefiting from Russian air strikes against the positions of the terrorists. We are on the same side with Russia fighting ISIL [Organization banned in Russia – Editor],” – Talal Salah said.

The interviewee said that “ ‘Syrian Democratic Forces’ do not coordinate their actions with Russia and don’t intend to join Moscow’s military operations.

“Syrian Democratic Forces” is the union of the forces of the armed opposition in the north of Syria. The main groups of it consist of the Kurdish self-defense forces. The alliance also includes Arabic, Turkmen, Assyrian and Armenian armed forces.
