Marines of Armed Forces of Ukraine and nationalist battalions clashed in a major shootout in Mariupol area, Donetsk News Agency reports on January 20, 2016, citing a source in Donetsk People’s Republic Defense Ministry.
The shootout erupted near Shyrokino village. A total of 26 Ukrainian militants on both sides were injured as a result. They were evacuated in Dnepropetrovsk city hospital, where they currently undergo medical treatment.
According to intelligence cited by the worker of DPR Defense Ministry, the conflict erupted after Ukrainian marines refused to shell villages in Mariupol area.
