Ombudswoman: 1500 people remain in Nazi captivity

03.12.2015, Donetsk.

DPR Human Rights Ombudswoman Darya Morozova stated that 1500 people who are in Kiev’s captivity appealed to the authorities of Donetsk’s People Republic to exchange them.

The Ukrainian side illegally detains 1500 people. These people who are being held in detention facilities are appealing for the exchange,” said Darya Morozova at the meeting of the Committee of Public Support of Residents of the South-East of Ukraine. In addition, another 400 people are being reported as ‘missing’.

According to the Ombudswoman, Kiev does not want to carry out an “all for all” exchange, violating the fifth paragraph of the Minsk Agreements, which prescribes pardon and amnesty.

The official number of people which were handed over to Ukraine is 621, and number of people received from Ukraine is 601. According to unofficial data, the real numbers of exchanged POWs are 860 and 740 people correspondingly.
