The head of Donetsk People’s Republic Aleksandr Zakharchenko has celebrated the miners of Donbass with their professional holiday.
A miner is not just a profession for our land, they are the backbone of Donetsk People’s Republic. The world-famous Donbass character was forged in longwalls by such miners and heroes of labor as Nikita Izotov, Ivan Bridko, Aleksandr Kolchik and, of course, Aleksey Stakhanov.
Zakharchenko has noted the special significance of this holiday in light of the current events and the succession of generations in fighting for the freedom of their land.
Our fathers and grandfathers have kicked the fascist plague out of Soviet Donbass; the real heroes of today – the children and grandchildren of our glorious veterans – have decisively defeated the Nazis having started the liberation of Donetsk People’s Republic. This tells us of the succession of generations, of loyalty to the traditions of our miners’ land. Today we are restoring Donbass from ruins together with you.
